  • ​We offer five programs: a Fundamentals program, a Grade School program (10u, 12u), a Junior High 14u program, a High School 18u program, and a High School JV program.

  • Each program (except for the Fundamentals program) practices twice per week for two hours.

  • Practices begin in October and run through February.

  • The Grade School and Junior High 14u programs play games in the Pella League and a few games/tournaments against other homeschool programs. The Grade School program typically plays 15-20 games per season. The Junior High 14u program typically plays 20-25 games per season.

  • The High School 18u program competes against other homeschool programs in the Midwest. This High School 18u program typically plays 25-35 games, depending on player's skill level and participating families desire for travel. 

  • Games begin for the High School 18u program in November and culminate with an end of season homeschool tournament. 

  • High School 18u players travel to play other homeschool teams in the Midwest 2-5 times per season, depending on player's skill level and participating families desire for travel. 

  • The High School JV program is designed for players with less basketball playing experience and/or less desire to play games outside of the Omaha area, playing in 8-12 games per season in the local Omaha area only.

-Fundamentals Program-

Does your son want to learn the fundamentals of basketball? Not sure basketball is for him, but want to test the waters? Lightning Fundamentals may be just right for you. The Lightning Fundamentals program will meet one hour per week for 8 weeks to focus on learning the fundamentals of basketball. Each practice will include instruction designed to teach players the basic fundamentals of the game in a fun and effective way. In addition to instruction, each practice will also include some intra-squad competitions to put the skills your son will be learning into play. This 8 week program will complete with at least 1 competitive game.

-Grade School (10u & 12u)-

The Grade School teams are divided up further into 10 and under (10U) and 12 and under (12U) teams. Grade school teams play in local Omaha leagues and some games/tournaments against other home school programs. Grade school will play approximately 15-20 games. Games begin in mid-October and wrap up with tournament play in March.

-Junior High 14u-

The Junior High program consists of boys ages 14 and under (14U). Junior High teams play in the Pella League and some games/tournaments against other home school programs. Junior High typically plays 20-25 games per season. Games begin in mid-October and will wrap up with tournament play in March.

-High School 18u-

High School 18u players are sometimes divided up further with boys 16 and under (16U) and 18 and under (18U) if numbers are large and warrant this. Being a competitive high school program, players on this team are encouraged to continue to solidify their fundamental basketball skills while exploring the competitive benefits of physical conditioning and team skills (playing as a team) that are needed to compete against other home school organizations throughout the Midwest. High School 18u players will participate in 2-5 out of town tournaments, depending on the skill level of the players and the desires of the families involved. High School 18u teams typically play 25-35 games per season. Games begin in November and finalize with a national home school tournament in late February or early March.

-High School JV-

Do you have a high school aged boy that enjoys playing basketball but may not yet have the skills needed to thrive in the competitive basketball experience? Or maybe your family can't make the time commitment to practicing and playing/traveling as much as the High School 18u team requires? Then High School JV is for you! With the same coaching and player development philosophy that is common on all Lightning teams, the High School JV team practices at the same time as the High School 18u team with the same coaches However, High School JV players do not have to commit to as much travel outside of Omaha and typically play a series of only 8-12 games here in the Omaha area only.
